The Marin Mixtape Vol. 1: “The Spark”
The Marin Renaissance is a cultural movement that encourages people to actively pursue their dreams. To spark this movement, our website highlights the people in our community doing positive things in their lives and the lives of others. In an effort to expose the diverse and abundant musical talent in Marin, we set out to create a “Marin Mixtape Series”. We hope that this first mixtape, The Spark, will provide a platform for the artists featured on the tape to display their talents to the community, and create a local foundation of support for them as they pursue their dreams.
You can stream, as well as download, the tracks individually, below. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE MIXTAPE AS A SINGLE FILE.

Catalyst
A throw back to the story-telling emcees who were the early foundation of the hip hop genre, Catalyst smoothly weaves coherent tales of life, love, and desire together on each song. The Novato rapper removes the materialistic aspect from his sound, creating an intimate connection between him and his listeners, baring his soul on each track. With an album already under his belt, Reaction, and a recently released mixtape, A Cat’s Life, the future looks bright for this true wordsmith.
Dynamics
Brought together by a love of music and the belief that lyricism is the most influential mode of self-expression, Dynamics emphasizes both the meaning and slap factor of their songs. Instead of the superficial radio sound of contemporary hip hop music, the group is putting out true Bay Area rap music, highlighting the plights of real Baydestrians with relatable and unique messages.
Taylor P
Taylor P began making music at an early age, learning the piano and writing songs and raps by the age of 8. Through the years, he has evolved as an all-around musician, enhancing his production technique by picking up instruments from guitar and mandolin to drums and bass. Taylor P raps truthful tales over soulful beats, creating a catchy and inspiring sound for music lovers from all walks of life.
Singing Bear
A refreshingly true voice emerging from Fairfax, CA, Singing Bear blends laid back melodies with powerful, thought provoking lyrics. His first solo album, “Gold,” is a perfect mix of dance tracks and folk pop, with lyrics that will inspire listeners to chase their dreams. Heavily influenced by the natural beauty of Marin County, Bear’s songs capture the unique bond between people and the Earth.
Jenny Lloyd
Jenny Lloyd, who plays both the guitar and piano, spreads a feel good message through her music that shows off her high-spirited personality. Through vivid and relatable stories, Jenny encourages listeners to believe that there is always sunshine to be found even on a bad day. It is hard not to find yourself captivated by the down to earth lyrics and soulful vocals of this Mill Valley songstress.
